Avery Dennison Corporation confirmed work is to start yo expand its medical product manufacturing operations.
Construction work is expected to begin in September 2018, with a completion by mid-year 2019. The 6,000 square-meter facility expansion will include a new clean room, integrated converting and manufacturing capabilities. The firm's newly expanded facility will enable the company to serve its customers more efficiently with an enhanced array of products and services, and collaborate more effectively with medical OEMs in the development of product innovations.

The project is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland. Avery Dennison expects the capacity expansion to increase employment at the Longford operations over a four-year period.
Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys TD said: "This significant investment by Avery Dennison is a great vote of confidence not only in Longford but also in the Midlands region. This investment, which will result in the creation of additional jobs over the next four years, is a further example of the Government’s commitment to the Regional Action Plan for Jobs. Through the Plan, we are committed to ensuring we have the right conditions and supports in place to encourage job creation right across the country."
