GMC Utilities Group Scoops Contract To Replace Water Mains In Swords

GMC Utilities Group has been awarded a contract to replace old and ageing water mains in Swords, Dublin.

Irish Water is to host a public consultation on Thursday, 14 December, at the Carnegie Court Hotel from 4pm - 8pm to explain more about the project to the local community.

Irish Water is investing approximately €9million in the project and the work is expected to begin in January 2018.

The 30 inch concrete water main was laid in 1970 and will be replaced between Cooks Road and Forest Road south of Swords, along Forest Road to the junction with the Dublin Road / Main Street Swords, along Main Street and North Street and onwards to Lissenhall, ending near the Swords north M1 motorway junction.

Paul Hickey, Irish Water Regional Lead, said: "We are inviting the public to come along to our drop-in information evening in the Carnegie Court Hotel on Thursday, 14 December from 4pm - 8pm. We want to ensure that the community who live, work and visit Swords and those that will benefit from the project in Malahide and Portmarnock are kept up to date on the replacement of 5kms of water main in Swords. This project will ensure that customers in Swords and in parts of Malahide and Portmarnock will have a more reliable and secure water supply. The project team will be on hand at the information evening to answer any questions members of the community have on the project."
