Farrans Construction To Improve Water Supply Infrastructure In Cookstown

Farrans Construction is to start work to improve the water supply infrastructure in Cookstown.

The work, on the Princess Avenue and Lissan Drive areas, is expected to begin on the 27 November and will continue for approximately six weeks.

Watermains will be upgraded to improve the quality, reliability and security of the water supply, while reducing leakage and improving pressure in the area.


The area will be fully reinstated from the 22 December to reduce disruption over the Christmas period. The remaining work will be completed in the new year, commencing on the 08 January.

Derek Crabbe, NI Water's Project Manager for the scheme, said: "The scale of the ongoing watermains project has required extensive work on local roads. However, where possible, we will use state of the art low-dig technology throughout this programme of work, which will enable us to lay many of the mains without the need to open large trenches.

"NI Water will continue to cooperate with the Department for Infrastructure and local representatives and will do everything possible to keep any disruption to a minimum."
