Murphy Scoops Irish Water Deal Worth Around €25m

Construction News Image
Irish Water has awarded Murphy a deal worth around €25 million.

Murphy has been selected to design, build, operate and maintain major water treatment works (WTW) in Ireland.

The project is to design, build, operate and maintain the Staleen and Cavan Hill WTW in County Louth.

Murphy will help the company provide high quality drinking water to the towns of Dundalk and Drogheda through the modernisation and upgrading of two water treatment plants.

The Staleen WTP was originally constructed in 1974 and upgraded in 1986, and now supplies over 80,000 people across Drogheda and East Meath areas. Cavanhill WTP has been in operation since 1991 and supplies over 35,000 people in the Dundalk area.

Stuart Rothery, Water Sector Director for Murphy, said: "We are delighted to be able to provide a fully integrated design, build, operate and maintain capability for our water clients in Ireland. Our 'one Murphy's approach ensures that we bring all of our industry experts and experience from across the whole company to provide reliable cradle-to-grave services.

"By coordinating the process, MEICA (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls and automation) and civils engineering requirements from a design, commissioning and operational perspective, Murphy can deliver assured solutions to meet our clients' needs.

"We're committed to the water industry in Ireland and what better way to show that than by investing in the country’s infrastructure and making sure our clients’ customers get a high quality water supply."
