A social housing scheme in Fermoy, Cork, has been shortlisted for a national housing award.
The Cork County Council social housing scheme, 'Tur Liath', in Oliver Plunkett Hill, has been shortlisted in the Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) Community Housing Awards 2017 in the category Housing for Families.
The Mayor congratulated Cork County Council's Housing Department, the Council’s Architects Department and MMD Construction on the completion and occupation of the €1.6m project.
Mayor Seamus McGrath said: "Tur Liath is the first of many innovative housing schemes that Cork County Council is making available to the people of Cork County. This is indicative of the great progress being made in the delivery of high quality housing, in requested areas, to the highest of design standards that residents can call home and enjoy the benefits there of.
"Housing for Families that’s what this is about this formerly abandoned area now offers people a variety of housing types each with high standards of design, evident in the fact it has been shortlisted for this prestigious award. The distinctive front facade and environmental performance through high energy efficiency technologies are what sets it apart and what will make it comfortable and affordable for the families that have taken up residents."
