Call For An Bord Pleanala To Reject Appeals Over Intel Planning Permission

Labour is calling on An Bord Pleanala to reject two appeals lodged against the decision to grant planning permission to Intel for its Modified New Chip Manufacturing Facility at its Headquarters in Leixlip.

Kildare County Council granted planning permission on Tuesday, 02 May.

Kildare North Labour Representative Emmet Stagg confirmed he will study both appeals lodged and would be submitting observations to An Bord Pleanala in support of the Council's original decision to grant planning permission.


The development proposed comprises revised design of a previously permitted Manufacturing Facility and utility support buildings to ensure that the Intel Site has the capacity to manufacture the latest Semicondutor Technology in its bid to secure an estimated $4 Billion new Chip Manufacturing facility at Leixlip.

Mr Stagg said: "The need for the revised planning permission stemmed from a change in the standard design of Intel's manufacturing plants, known as Fabs. The permission granted is for a smaller facility than for the one which received planning permission in 2013. That permission was also appealed to An Bord Pleanala and the Bord granted permission."
