Four new sections of the Connswater Community Greenway have officially opened in east Belfast.
The sections include new cycle and pedestrian paths, two new play parks, two new multi-use games areas and two new bridges.
The locations of the four new sections and key features are:
• Newtownards Road to Connswater Link; New pedestrian and cycle path, flood walls, lighting, seats, signage, landscaping, works to the river, and a toucan crossing.
• Avoniel Leisure Centre to Beersbridge Road; New pedestrian and cycle path, new play park, new multi use games area (MUGA), new bridge, lighting, seats, signage, landscaping and flood walls.
• Castlereagh Road to Ladas Way; New pedestrian and cycle path, riverside boardwalk, new play park, new MUGA, lighting, seats, signage, landscaping and a toucan crossing.
• Ladas Drive to Montgomery Road; New pedestrian and cycle path (1.5km), riverside boardwalk, new bridge, lighting, benches, bins, signage, landscaping and flood walls.
Wendy Langham, Programme Manager Connswater Community Greenway, said: "It is a huge milestone to be opening four new links over the period of a week. There is much anticipation for these sections to open particularly from local children who are waiting patiently to use the new play parks. Taking over 337,000 man hours to build, we are very excited to be moving into our final weeks of Phase 2 construction works."
