The Northern Ireland Housing Executive is to invest £1.2million in Newry to carry out improvement works in the Carnagat area.

The work in Ardcarne Park will include enhanced pedestrian access, the replacement of street lighting, altering road layouts and construction of new roads to help facilitate increased parking in the area. The provision of galvanised railings and timber fences to gardens, as well as the retrofitting of windows to selected end-of terrace and gable walls will also help improve the homes in the area.


Owen McDonnell, NIHE's Area Manager said: "The Housing Executive is pleased to announce this significant investment into the Carnagat area of Newry. We engaged with the local community to find out concerns in the area and how they can be addressed. This proactive approach has been whole-heartedly welcomed by residents whose input was important to this initiative.

"This investment will help build strong communities through partnership working. We would like to thank everyone, especially the Carnagat Community Association for their involvement in making this project come to fruition."
