Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor Mícheál Mac Donncha said the sale of the apartments, which have been renamed New Priory, is designed to refund the Department of the Environment for the refurbishment of the complex.

Cllr Mac Donncha said: "Did management seek the Department's approval to retain units? We do not know.
"At the same time, management claims there would be legal implications if the units are retained. What are they? We do not know. Therefore this management proposal should not proceed and the issue should be referred for detailed consideration to the Housing Committee and the North Central Area Committee."
