Farranree In Cork Is 'Seriously Littered' - IBAL Report

Farranree in Cork has been found to be seriously littered, according to a report from Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL).

Mahon in Cork, Castlebar in Mayo, and Ballymun in Dublin were found to be all littered.

Sinn Fein Councillor Noeleen Reilly said she was "disappointed" with the findings.

She said: "I am thoroughly disappointed to see our community highlighted negatively in this report. Unfortunately it doesn't come as a surprise given the amount of representations I make to Dublin City Council in relation to illegal dumping.
 We have had a serious problem with illegal dumping since the privatisation of the bins by Dublin City Council.


We also have a huge amount of wasteland which is ideal for anyone that wants to dump.'

"We are actually trying to attract business into the area presently as we are without a shopping centre as promised in the Ballymun Regeneration master plan.

"This survey will not do anything to help us in that objective.

"I really hope Dublin City Council take on board this survey. I know that the North Inner City  litter action group is to be rolled out to Ballymun in the coming months and I welcome that as a first step to tackling the issue."
