Public Consultation Opens To Discuss New Covered Reservoir In Dublin

A public consultation has opened to discuss plans surrounding the development of a new covered reservoir in Stillorgan, Dublin.

Plans are currently underway to improve the existing reservoir site and a planning application will be submitted to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council following the consultation.

Irish Water is inviting the local community and all other interested parties to have their say as part of a public consultation.

The new covered reservoir is essential to safeguard the quality of the drinking water for 200,000 customers. Irish Water has already invested €3.4 million in a new system to improve the disinfection of drinking water stored in the Stillorgan Reservoir. Following the investment, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) removed the Stillorgan Reservoir from the Remedial Action List (RAL). The long term solution to upgrade the reservoir is now being progressed.

The public consultation will close on Wednesday, 14 September.
