Sinn Féin MEP Matt Carthy met with Sligo/Leitrim TD Martin Kenny, Mayo Senator Rose Conway-Walsh and other Sinn Féin Councillors from Leitrim, Sligo, Roscommon and Westmeath to talk about concerns in the Shannon region and coastal areas.

Mr Carthy said the meeting was "informative and constructive".
He said: "There has been a marked failure by the last Government and its predecessors to deal with flood risks. The victims have been householders, small business owners and farmers.
"Sinn Féin has already launched a Dáil Bill to establish a Shannon River Authority to ensure proper coordination and a robust response from the various agencies responsible when flooding occurs.
"My aim now is to put together concrete proposals for a full policy document. I will consult further with Sinn Féin colleagues in the Dáil and communities affected as part of this process."
