Threat To Close Homeless Hostel In Dublin Is A 'Disgrace' - SF

Dublin City Council's Chief Executive, the Digital Hub and Department of Communications have been called to work together to stop the closure of a homeless hostel in the city.

Sinn Féin said the threat to close Dublin's 100-bed Brú hostel is a "disgrace".

Councillor Daithí Doolan said: "The newly elected government claims homelessness is a priority. Now is the time to prove it. The land is owned by the Department of Communications.


"It would be a travesty if the government allows this hostel to close. There were 102 rough sleepers at the last count. These numbers are set to double if the Brú closes its doors in 31 May.

"I have also written on behalf of the housing committee to the City's Chief Executive and the newly appointed Minister for Communications, Denis Naughton, asking for the hostel to be kept open."
