New Clane Link Road Needs To Be Developed Immediately - FF

Construction News Image
Kildare County Council has been urged to prioritise the development of a new Clane Link Road.

The road, which connects the Dublin Road with the Kilcock Road, needs to be developed without "undue delay", according to Fianna Fáil.

TD for Kildare North Frank O Rourke said the plans must be resurrected now.

He said: "A number of years ago, plans were put in place for the construction of a ring road around Clane to reduce the number of disruptive HGV’s travelling through the town centre. In particular, a link road, connecting the Dublin road in Clane to the Kilcock Road should be put to the top of the agenda again.

"Having this link road would take a significant number of HGV's out of the town centre which would maintain the vibrancy of the town while making it a safer place for pedestrians and motorists.

"I see first-hand the detrimental effects that arise as a result of a constant steam of HGV's travelling through the heart of the town. This is something that people raise with me on a weekly basis when I hold my clinic in Clane. I want to assure people that I will continue to raise the issue with Kildare County Council to ensure that a focus is kept on this important project for Clane."
