Plans To Develop Premier Inn Hotel Welcomed

Plans to build a Premier Inn hotel in Bangor, Co Down, have been welcomed by the DUP.

The new hotel is to be developed at the Castle Leisure Centre site.

North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne said it is "great news" for the town.

Mr Dunne said: "Bangor town centre, like many town centres has suffered in recent years, due to a number of issues, however the announcement shows it is now becoming a town to invest in. We have seen investment from both DSD and Council worth £8 million in recent years in delivering the new public realm scheme in the Town and work continues to progress the much needed Queen's Parade Project.

"This announcement signals a welcome indication that Bangor is open for business and I trust that more investment will follow in the days ahead for Bangor and across North Down and increasing the potential for tourism."
