The funding is part of the School Enhancement Programme.
Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay said: "Indeed the £4million that St Louis' will receive is the maximum that any school can receive from this funding stream. I believe that this is indeed recognition of what I have been saying for a number of years now, that there is a clear and unaddressed need for capital investment at the school.

"Only a number of weeks ago it was announced that £1million would be spent on building a new canteen for the school and this £4million is in addition to that amount.
"This is yet another example of how Sinn Féin has delivered capital investment for Ballymena. On top of the investment into St Louis' we also have the commencement of the new Castle Tower School and the new Braidside Integrated School is to be built once this work is completed."
