SDLP To Seek Radical New Build And Retrofit Programme

The SDLP has announced it is to seek a "radical" new build and retrofit programme for people who are struggling to find decent accommodation.

Upper Bann Westminster candidate Dolores Kelly MLA has said the SDLP has a history of delivering where others have failed.

Mrs Kelly said: "That’s why we’re calling again for a radical programme of new builds and retro fitting for old properties. I hear from people on the housing waiting list every single day who are struggling to put a roof over their children’s heads. Every case is heartbreaking and makes me more determined to right the wrongs that have been committed by those in power.


"That's how we halved the number of homes that failed to meet the ‘decent home standard’ from 2007-2011. That's why we'll take action to help the almost 40,000 people on the waiting list and 22,000 in housing stress."
