Translink has appointed a Magherafelt firm to supply carpets for its ross-border Enterprise train service.
Floors for Living (NI) won the contract, worth approximately £90,000, to provide two types of carpet to the service, which is currently undergoing a £12.2million refurbishment.
The carpets to be supplied are saloon carpet, manufactured by Ulster Carpets in Portadown and vestibule carpet, manufactured by Forbo flooring based in Derbyshire.
Translink Head of Rail Operations, Ian Campbell, said: "This is further key milestone in the Enterprise refurbishment programme and we are especially pleased to work with local NI suppliers to deliver this requirement. The carpet will reflect a new innovative image and overall style for the Enterprise brand, enhancing the overall customer experience.
"Last year (2013/14) almost 840,000 people used the Enterprise and we want to ensure its long term reliability for the next 10-15 years to increase customer satisfaction levels and grow passenger numbers further.
"The project started back in November and we continue to work effectively in conjunction with Iarnrod Eireann to deliver it on time and on budget. Once complete, the service will look and feel like a modern new train providing a relaxing and convenient way to travel between Belfast and Dublin for business or leisure. We would like to thank the European Union and Department for Regional Development for essential funding to deliver this extensive programme."
