Funding Secured For Development In Co Mayo

€350,000 funding has been secured for the development of the of the Killala-Ballina Greenway in County Mayo.

Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo Dara Calleary welcomed the funding and said it will provide a major boost to the north Mayo area.

Deputy Calleary said: "The success of Greenways in other parts of the country can act as a blueprint for the Moy Valley region and increase our tourism and economic potential.


"The Rural Development Programme has been integral in the revitalisation of rural Ireland and the €350,000 which has been granted for the Killala to Rosserk segment of the Greenway under this scheme will further enhance the regeneration of the area.

"This Greenway will be incredibly important for Ballina but especially for Killala and will hopefully entice many more visitors to explore this hidden gem. However it's essential that all local landowners are fully consulted and are included in any new developments."
