SDLP Waterside Councillor Martin Reilly welcomed prompt action from Derry City Council, who have cordoned off the area.
Councillor Reilly said: "This fence – which blocks off vacant land – unfortunately had become boasted and was overhanging the public pathway.

"This was causing a nuisance for pedestrians but more importantly was causing a danger should it fall down when someone was walking past.
"After reporting the problem to Derry City Council, I welcome the prompt action taken by the Building Control Department.
"They cordoned off the pathway and have liaised with the landowner to make good the repairs."
