Danny Kennedy made the commitment in response to an Assembly question and also reiterated this in a response to Alliance MLA, Kieran McCarthy.

Judith Cochrane MLA said: "I had been contacted by a number of local people in recent weeks over their fears that the erection of a fence alongside part of the Greenway was part of a 'land grab' or was an indication that part of the embankment had been earmarked for sale.
"While the Minister has given this commitment, I do still have concerns regarding the accuracy of Departmental records of the boundary associated with this fencing and I will continue to liaise with DRD to ensure the Comber Greenway is maintained and enhanced."
