Over €200m Secured For Dublin Housing

More than €240 million has been secured for housing in Dublin city over the next three years, it has been revealed.

Last May, Dublin City Council announced that €45m had been secured for local authority housing construction in 2015. However, it has now been announced that an additional €63m has been added to that figure, meaning that a total of €108m is now available for home building next year.


On top of this, €78 million has been earmarked for 2016 and €54m for 2017.

It is understood that the money will provide for the construction of 551 new homes over the next three years. Around 330 of the new homes will come through regeneration or refurbishment.

There are currently 20,000 applicants on the city's social housing waiting list.
