UUP Welcomes New Build For High Schools In South Belfast

The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) has welcomed the decision to build a new school to replace Newtownbreda and Knockbreda High Schools following an amalgamation.

South Belfast MLA Michael McGimpsey said that he is currently looking for clarity from the Education Minister as to where the new school will be located.


Mr McGimpsey said: "Firstly it must be in south Belfast in order to retain a secondary school in that area and I am convinced that the most appropriate site for the new state of the art school is the site of the current Newtownbreda school, which is more than capable of accommodating the new premises.

"It is clear from the vast majority of parents and pupils affected that their preferred option is that the new building should be on the current Newtownbreda site."
