Improvements Scheme To Begin On A2 Buncrana Road

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that a £395,000 road improvements scheme for the A2 Buncrana Road in County Londonderry is set to begin on Monday 26 May.

The resurfacing scheme of a 1.14km stretch of the road from Skeoge Roundabout to the N13 in the Republic of Ireland is expected to be completed by 10 June.

Mr Kennedy said:"This significant investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this important cross border route."

To minimise disruption most of the work will be undertaken between 7pm and 7am. However, to help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to close the road on Saturday 7 June and Sunday 8 June from 8am to 11pm.

Diversions will be well signposted. Traffic travelling towards Londonderry will be diverted from the Buncrana Road roundabout at Bridgend via R238 Buncrana Road, R239 Burnfoot to Muff Road in the Republic of Ireland and A1002 Culmore Road, A515 Madam's Bank Road and A515 Skeoge Link Road in Northern Ireland.
