Carr Concerned About The Poor State Of The Pitch At Brandywell Stadium

SDLP Derry City Councillor Jimmy Carr has voiced concern about the poor state of the pitch at the Brandywell Stadium.

Councillor Carr said: "For years Derry City FC was known as having one of the best playing surfaces in the League of Ireland and, if I remember correctly, our groundsmen received an award for the excellent surface.


"On Sunday past, Derry City played Cork City and the match was screened on national television from the Brandywell Stadium. As a lifelong Derry City fanatic, and as a Derry City Councillor, I was embarrassed to see the current state of the playing surface.

"I've been going to the Brandywell since I was a child and I always felt immensely proud of our team but, on Sunday at the Brandywell, the first thing I noticed was the diabolical playing surface.

"Action is needed in order to prevent the further demise of the Brandywell Stadium."
