The West Tyrone assemblyman was speaking after questioning DRD Minister Danny Kennedy regarding the issue of a key delivery team for the A5 road project. Mr Byrne said: "I asked the Minister to confirm the Department for Regional Development still has a dedicated team working on the A5 project, and that all the stops are being pulled out to make sure that there are no other likely handicaps further down the road.

"In reply to this question, the Minister said his department will be working with other branches of government to ensure the project progresses smoothly.
"Mr Byrne said the A5 is a project he 'has always fully supported, and I believe a key delivery team needs to be in place to ensure the A5 road project is delivered without any more blockages or delays'.
"The A5 project is a vital scheme for West Tyrone and the western area. The road, as it is, has not been fit for the purpose for many years. The huge volume of traffic it carries daily is testament to the necessity for a suitable and necessary piece of infrastructure to be put in place."
