Average House Prices Increase

The House Price Index for the fourth quarter of 2013 has been published.

The survey analyses the performance of the Northern Ireland housing market during the final quarter of 2013, the months of October, November and December. The report is concerned with trends and spatial patterns in the housing market drawing comparisons with the fourth quarter of 2012, as a measure of annual change, and with the third quarter of 2013, as an indicator of quarterly change. The report is produced by the University of Ulster in partnership with the Bank of Ireland and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.


The latest figures show that the average house price in the final quarter of last year was £132,922 a weighted increase of 2.7% over the third quarter, although the average price was still down on a year previously. Taken in conjunction with the increasing number of sales, this report provides further evidence that overall the housing market is emerging from the doldrums.
