Senator Mac Sharry, who assisted in making the project a reality over the past two years, welcomed the new facility which was launched today, Thursday 14 November, in Sligo.
"This will be a game changer for patients who require neurological services in the North West. It will place this region at the cutting edge of advances in the area through direct links to the Dublin Neurological Institute and beyond," the Sligo Senator said.

"The centre is a not-for-profit initiative, which will work with exiting neurological services in the region. It is culmination of a considerable amount of work by a number of individuals, agencies and private sector sponsors with a vision to make the best possible neurological services available to patients in the North West.
"The institute, headquartered in Sligo, will be linked to the Dublin Neurological Institute and with the cooperation of the HSE, it will develop links with the Sligo Regional Hospital, Letterkenny General Hospital and Galway University Hospital.
"Through this the new centre will seek to bring together the best care for patients in the North West region. It also hopes to join with existing Neurological NGOs in the region to maximise benefits to the community."
