NIE Takes Over Action Cancer Charity Shop

A team of 13 from Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) will be taking over the running of the Action Cancer charity shop on 4 Hill Street, Newry on Thursday 19 September as part of Business in the Community's Cares Shops' Challenge.

Altogether, 12 teams from 11 different companies have been planning their 'take overs' for the past three months. They've been gathering new stock for their shop as well as fundraising and marketing their activities. There will be an overall winner chosen from the 12 teams – the one that raises the most money as well as a winner for the most innovative ideas.


"This is a great opportunity for members of our team to join forces and give something back to a very worthwhile cause," explained Tom Doran, Training and Development Manager at NIE. "There will be lots of bargains and wacky fundraising ideas taking place during our shop take over on the 19 September and we're committed to raising as much money as possible."

"We hope that people will come out in force to the Action Cancer charity shop in Newry to support NIE in its efforts to raise the most money," said organiser, Hilary Hanberry, Volunteering Manager, Business in the Community.
