Dublin Traffic System Overhaul Report Produced By NTA

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has produced a plan to "transform the movement of traffic in Dublin City Centre", according to the Irish Times.

Citing a report from the authority seen by the paper, it is understood that the NTA, in consultation with Dublin City Council, produced the paper in June this year, and it contains a number of measures to improve the flow of traffic around and through the city, while also making improvements for pedestrians.


Under the proposed plans, the southern half of College Green would become a public plaza, with the pedestrianising of Suffolk Street and Church Lane. "Generic car traffic" would be removed from Westmoreland Street and D'Olier Street and Beresford Place would be opened to two-way traffic.

Christchurch Place would also be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction, Westland Row would become a "public transport-only corridor" and both Kelly's Corner and Leonard's Corner would be redesigned in an effort to make the area a more "pedestrian-friendly space".
