Denis Fahy is Owner of Denis Fahy (DF) Construction, roofing specialists based in Sligo, Ireland, with over 12 years' experience in the industry.
Denis and his team were recently approached by a renewable energy wind turbine company, Global Electric Services, who were moving into new offices. The premises was a former industrial unit which had recently been transformed into a modern office complex. The key aim of the project was to increase the amount of daylight and fresh air into the new property to make it suitable as a productive, functional office space for the workers.
Denis and his team contacted and met with Joanna Donohoe, their local VELUX sales advisor, for advice on space planning and daylight measurement to ensure that they could make the most of their client's funds. Denis and his team ultimately recommended installing two windows in key positions within the building to really amplify the effect of the natural daylight within the space. They communicated to the client that by strategically placing the windows within the right spaces in the building, they wouldn't need to compromise any of their original project aims.
Denis and his team were focussed on ensuring that the new space would give the workers access to as much daylight and fresh air as possible, creating a healthy work environment for all of the employees. In line with these objectives, DF Construction recommended installing both windows in the darkest areas of the main room, where the desks would be situated, to ensure that workers had optimum natural light to minimise the use of artificial light during the day.
The team choose two VELUX Polyurethane Centre-Pivot Roof Windows with a white finish to complement the modern décor and allow for plenty of natural light to flood in through the centre of the office. In addition to opening up the office, installing the two windows in the centre of the space meant that all of the workers could really benefit from the daylight.
Denis said: "For this project, the key was to improve the office space so that the everyone at Global Electric Services could have as healthy and happy working environment as possible. It was great to be able to recommend the white finish, as the customer didn't know this option existed. We were really pleased that we were able to deliver such great results and maximise the client's limited budget.
"We've attended lots of training recently which has helped the team here increase their awareness of a wider range of products so that we can give our clients much more choice. For instance, we've started talking to customers about blinds for the first time, which has helped to bolster business."
Denis Fahy Construction continues to generate new business leads through being a member of the VELUX Installer Partnership.
