Ecocem Ireland ltd., specialist producer of eco-friendly cement and low carbon concrete, announced today the appointment of Mr Martin Groome to the Board of Ecocem Ireland and Sales Director.
Mr Groome, who has almost 20 years of experience in the building materials sector, joined Ecocem in 2011 and in his new role will be spearheading the development of sales to the ready-mix and pre-cast concrete industries. He will also have special responsibility for developing niche project specific exports. In this newly created role, he will report to John Newell, Managing Director of Ecocem Ireland.
Prior to joining Ecocem, Mr Groome held a number of senior positions within the building materials sector both in Ireland and abroad including time spent at Halliburton and Wavin Ireland.
Mr Newell, MD at Ecocem Ireland said: "We are very pleased to appoint Martin to this role. Since joining Ecocem he has made a significant contribution to the development of the company's market share on an all-island basis and is an important ingredient in the success of our business."
Earlier this year, Ecocem Ireland announced a plan to create 61 jobs as part of a new three year, €19m investment programme coinciding with the official opening of its new facility at Dublin Port. The new cement plant will be used to bag Ecocem's eco-friendly cement, which among other things, reduces the carbon footprint of traditional cement by more than 50%. The new bags, have now been officially launched to consumers, and are available in builders' providers throughout the country.
