The road was dug for the installation of the main drainage scheme for Cappoquin but the re-instatement resulted in an uneven and broken surface which had fallen into a further state of disrepair in recent times.
Fine Gael Councillor, Nora Flynn, raised the issue as a priority at council level and also with Deputy Coffey to seek funding from the National Roads Authority to carry out resurfacing work on the damaged road.

Deputy Coffey made representations to the Minister for Transport, Leo Varadkar TD, and the NRA seeking an allocation of funds for Waterford County Council to carry out these repairs.
Deputy Coffey said: "This road is an important tourist route along the river Blackwater and is also a main thoroughfare in the town. It is important for business and tourism in the area and so it is essential that resurfacing is carried out as soon as possible.
"This road services the towns of Cappoquin, Lismore and Tallow, which are vital towns in west Waterford, that need to have quality infrastructure to deal with the needs of the community, business and tourist interests."
