"In particular in the Cookstown area, despite ever increasing demands on budgets, Roads Service invested over £4m in delivering a comprehensive range of road schemes and maintenance work.”

"Roads Service is using its available resources highly effectively and continues to deliver quality public services in the Cookstown area and across Northern Ireland."

Previewing the work scheduled in the area over the next year, Mr Kennedy said: "Roads Service’s proposed programme for this financial year include resurfacing of James Street in Cookstown town centre; sections of the U744 at Morgans Hill Road, the C624 Cavanoneill Road and the U805 Murnells Road. Local transport and safety schemes include sightline improvement schemes at B73/B161 Battery Road/Drumenny Road, and a range of traffic management measures including Traffic Calming and Safer Routes to Schools Schemes."
