Primary Care Centre To Be Developed In Monaghan

HSE Cavan Monaghan has announced that a major capital development will be commencing on the Monaghan Hospital site.

The development will include a Primary Care Centre to deliver health and social care services to the people of the North Monaghan area. The site was selected following a recent review by HSE Estates and Cavan Monaghan Integrated Service Area of potential sites in the area including two sites on the St Davnet's Campus in Monaghan town.

The HSE has also announced an allocation of €9.5m from the National Capital Plan to develop the centre.

The development will involve a new building connected to and integrated with the existing hospital. Design and planning work will commence later this year, progressing to a formal procurement process to select a contractor to carry out the construction work.

When completed, this development will provide an integrated Health and Social Care centre with Primary Care Services complementing the already existing services in Monaghan Hospital, including A Minor Injury Unit, Out Patient Services, In-Patient Rehabilitation and Step Down beds, Day Services, Radiology & Endoscopy Services

The Primary Care Centre will accommodate the 2 primary care teams providing a range of health and social care services such as; Public Health Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology and Primary Care Social Work Services. The new Primary Care Centre will also provide accommodation for Out Patient aspects of Mental Health Services.
