The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) is inviting proposals from business and public sector organisations located in Ireland and carrying out projects in Ireland with the intention of adding to SEAI's portfolio of sustainable energy RD&D projects to be delivered in 2013.
The Programme is open to a wide range of proposal types – including technology RD&D, field research, feasibility studies and policy studies. The move towards sustainable energy options depends on resource availability, technical maturity and capacity, and a policy environment that is conducive to both technology improvements and commercialisation. SEAI, in this call for proposals, seeks to promote research into technologies and options best suited to Ireland’s own resources and needs.
The RD&D Programme aims to stimulate the deployment of sustainable energy by:
• Accelerating the development and deployment in the Irish marketplace of competitive renewable energy products, processes and systems with a particular emphasis on achieving Ireland's 2020 National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) and National Energy Renewable Action Plan.
• providing support for solutions that enable technical and other barriers to market uptake to be overcome.
• Establishing, where necessary, and strengthening, where possible, a national capacity to access, develop and apply international class RD&D in a way that can best meet specific Irish needs on a continuing basis.
• Supporting and providing guidance to policy makers and public bodies that facilitate renewable energy deployment.
Projects are required to be completed by 30th October 2013.
