The projects were funded by his Department through the Neighbourhood Renewal Investment Fund, which has, to date, delivered projects to a value of £3.25million in the area.
During his visit the Minister was shown a Healthy Living Centre Project, a 'pod' type structure which provides a base for delivering training and health based activities utilising adjacent allotments, a refurbished IT suite in the Kilcooley Women's Centre and a new playground and a range of IT equipment in Kilcooley Primary School.

The Minister said: "These new projects, which represent an investment of £250,000, will help to address health, training and employability needs in this area and will provide enhanced and education and recreation facilities for young people attending Kilcooley Primary School.
"They are excellent examples of joined up working involving a range of public sector partners working with community representatives to make a difference to the lives of residents living in areas of disadvantage."
