As part of the Housing Executive's ongoing commitment to improve its housing stock, tenants living in the Upper New Lodge area of North Belfast are getting new windows and improvements to the outside of their home at a total cost of over £400,000.
Many of the 144 tenants involved have also recently had new kitchens installed as part of a scheme costing £380,000 bringing our total recent investment in the area to more than £780,000.
All of the tenants involved in the scheme will see their homes benefiting from a number of external improvements ranging from roofing repairs and repainting to having their paths and paved areas repaired. 91 tenants are also getting new uPVC windows as part of the scheme, while tenants that already have double glazing will have their windows serviced.
Malachy McKinney, our North Belfast Area Manager said: "This investment in the area comes on the back of a recent kitchen replacement scheme and further demonstrates the Housing Executive's commitment to improve housing conditions in the New Lodge area and indeed throughout North Belfast.
"By either replacing or servicing the windows in these properties tenants will not only benefit from greater energy efficiency and noise reduction but should also take a step in the right direction towards lower heating costs.”
"The additional external improvements will ensure that all the properties and indeed the entire area get a bit of a facelift."
PK Murphy is carrying out the work on behalf of the Housing Executive.
