A spokesperson explained: "After fifteen years of remaining static, Local Government Building Control Services find it necessary to implement an increase.

"The 'Plan Fee', which is used to fund the assessment of proposed work to make sure it meets the regulations for a new domestic dwelling less than 250m2 will increase from £75.00 to £90.00.
"The corresponding 'Inspection Fee' which funds the inspection of work on-site as it goes through certain stages will increase from £175.00 to £210.00.
"There is no change to fees in respect of building projects within the commercial sector, at this time, however fees for certain small buildings, extensions and alterations will also increase."
