Repair Works To Retaining Wall Complete

Repair works to the retaining wall at Drumadd Terrace, Armagh is now complete.

The road was closed initially on 14 January due to subsidence of part of the footway adjacent to the Folly River retaining wall.

Initially the repair work was expected to be completed within approximately four weeks. However, an investigation at the site revealed that the underlying problem was considerably worse than thought.


Roads Minister, Danny Kennedy said: "A section of the wall needed to be substantially strengthened and its foundations to be underpinned to eliminate the possibility of a total failure of the wall. This involved a complete redesign of a solution which resulted in a small delay to the works with further delays caused by inclement weather conditions and extremely high water levels of the Folly River."
