Firms Identify Funding To Reduce Energy Costs

Local companies are being helped by Invest Northern Ireland to identify potential funding mechanisms for renewable energy projects designed to help reduce the cost of energy consumption.

Invest NI is holding a series of Renewable Energy Funding seminars to help companies understand financing and funding options for on-site renewable energy projects. Experts will describe the range of options available and issues that companies should consider before selecting the option that suits them best.

The seminars being held in Belfast, Derry/Londonderry, Craigavon and Enniskillen, will include speakers from Invest NI, Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment, Carbon Trust, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Carson McDowell Solicitors and Amber Green Energy.

Olive Hill, Director, Innovation and Technology Solutions, Invest NI said: "Our Sustainable Development team provides technical advice and information to businesses on energy and resource efficiency. However we are increasingly finding that businesses are experiencing difficulty in identifying suitable sources of finance for on-site renewable energy projects that will help them reduce their energy costs. At our Renewable Energy Funding seminars experts will provide insights into capital/project finance options, legal issues and revenue income from renewable energy generation.

"The types of on-site heat and/or electricity generation technologies being considered by companies include wind, hydro, anaerobic digestion, woodchip/biomass, heat pumps and geothermal, solar thermal and photovoltaic."
