Local councillors for the Ardress area recently had the opportunity to view a new wastewater scheme for the area.
The project at Ardress involved replacing the old Wastewater Treatment Works with a new Works on the existing site on the Summerisland Road, Ardress. The councillors also had the opportunity to see construction work on the new pumping station, which is part of this overall project.
The new Wastewater Treatment Works has been in operation since February 2012. However, NI Water is currently building a new Wastewater Pumping Station to transfer wastewater from the area to the new plant. The new pumping station has been design to cater for current and flows and future growth in the area. Work commenced on the pumping station in January 2013 and will last approximately 4 months.
Both the new Wastewater Treatment Works and Wastewater Pumping Station represent an investment by NI Water of approximately half a million pounds in the Ardress area.
A temporary road closure is currently in place as part of this work on the Blackisland Road, Armagh Route C167. This road will be closed until Friday 1st March 2013 to install a new sewer. Traffic will be diverted via the Derrycoose Road (B131), Teagy Road (B131) & Ardress Road (B28).
