The work is due to begin on 21 February between Lough Road and Pharis Road.
The Minister said: "This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this important road in Loughgiel.
"Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys."

To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses the majority of this work is programmed to be completed using lane closures.
A full closure of the Coolkeeran Road will be in place on 1 March 2013 and 5 and 6 March to facilitate the surfacing works. During these closures a signed traffic diversion via Lough Road, Ballyveeley Road and Pharis Road will be in operation for through traffic.
The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on 6 March.
