Work To Begin On Footway On Jordonstown Road

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £60,000 scheme to provide a missing link of footway on Jordanstown Road, Newtownabbey.

The work will take place between Lynda Avenue and Jordanstown Railway Halt, and is due to begin on 4 February. The work will include footway provision, drainage and utility alterations.

The Minister said: "The scheme will enable pedestrians, including school children to walk safely on the south side of the Jordanstown Road from Lynda Avenue to the Railway Halt and on towards Circular Road without having to cross this busy road twice."

In order to carry out this work safely, it will be necessary to operate temporary traffic lights from 9.30am to 4.30pm each day.

Local vehicular and pedestrian access will be maintained to all properties on the Jordanstown Road. The scheme is expected to be completed by April 2013.
