Minister Outlines Progress On £4.3m Investment

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has set out Roads Service’s progress on investment totalling £4.3million for road improvement and maintenance schemes in the Fermanagh area this year.

The Minister said: "A wide range of road improvement and maintenance schemes is planned or already complete in the Fermanagh District Council area. These include planned resurfacing at Knockmore Road, Derrygonnelly and Pettigoe Road, Kesh. Significant resurfacing has been completed on the A4 Belfast Road at Tattynuckle, Tattendillur, Lisbellaw and Killyhevlin. A right turn lane was incorporated into the Tattendillur scheme at the Station Road entrance to Brookborough. Other notable roads to benefit from the structural maintenance budget this year were Main Street, Derrygonnelly and the Coa Road and Forthill Road in Enniskillen.


"Cherrymount Link Road construction is now at an advanced stage and subject to the completion of an ongoing archaeological dig, the new carriageway should be open to traffic early in the New Year. The scheme will improve access to the new acute hospital and provide relief to traffic congestion in Gaol Square.

"The development of the Wellington Road improvement strategy continues. A traffic management system which links the signals at the West end has been completed. Design options for additional traffic lanes at Inis Ceithleann Bridge and Gaol Square, Enniskillen are being progressed."
