Northstone (NI) Ltd, working on behalf of DRD Roads Service, will shortly be commencing essential reconstruction and resurfacing works on the Malone Road, Belfast.
The scheme between University Road and Cadogan Park is being undertaken to improve the safety and strength of the road and will be completed in two phases. The stretch from Cadogan Park to Chlorine Gardens will be completed prior to Christmas 2012 and the remainder will be resurfaced in the New Year.
The majority of the Phase 1 works will be completed over four Sundays - 28 October, 11 November, 18 November and 25 November 2012 - and on these days the Malone Road will be closed from University Road to Stranmillis Road between 4am and 8pm. There will be no access permitted from the side streets onto Malone Road for through traffic but local businesses and residents will be accommodated during the works. A traffic diversion for both citybound and countrybound traffic will be in operation via the Stranmillis Road. All restrictions and diversions will be clearly signed.
The Phase 2 works from Chlorine Gardens to University Road are programmed for Sunday 13 January and Sunday 20 January 2013. Details will be provided on the TrafficWatch Northern Ireland website.
A series of lane closures will also be utilised on the Malone Road from Monday 29 October 2012 to Saturday 10 November 2012 between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and hence may be subject to change. In that event further notice will be provided.
