The aim of the conference was to stimulate collaboration between businesses and research and development centres. The latest marine renewable technologies were also on show and many of the top industrial players demonstrated the latest technologies in harnessing renewable energy from the sea at the accompanying trade exhibition.
Speaking during a keynote address, Arlene Foster said: "Northern Ireland has been very active in renewable energy development and the Marine Energy sector is a key area in which we see real economic opportunity.

"Momentum in this sector is building and last week’s announcement by the Crown Estate to award development rights for a 600MW offshore wind project and 200MW tidal development in Northern Ireland waters was a significant milestone.
"Northern Ireland's strategic aim is for a more sustainable energy system where much more of our energy is generated from renewable sources. Today’s event is an important opportunity to reinforce the economic and environmental benefits of offshore renewables and highlight the vast innovation and growth opportunities for local businesses.
"Through the support of Invest Northern Ireland we will continue to help build the capabilities of our SMEs so that they can become viable supply chain partners in this lucrative and challenging environment."
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), in association with the European Ocean Energy Association, hosted the event at the Convention Centre, Dublin.
