New Cinema Planned For Drogheda Retail Park

Omniplex Group, a motion picture exhibitor operating the largest cinema circuit in Ireland, has announced details for a new 8 screen €5.5m DIGITAL OMNIPLEX at Drogheda Retail Park. The new OMNIPLEX will also include the first OMNIPLEX MAXX giant format screen in the Republic of Ireland, which at over 23 metres wide will be Ireland’s largest cinema screen. The cinema will provide up to 50 new full and part-time jobs in Drogheda.

"This state-of-the-art cinema will be unique in the Republic of Ireland. Moviegoers from Drogheda and regionally will be dazzled by the powerful digital and audio presentation; however it is the giant OMNIPLEX MAXX that will truly inspire a generation of moviegoers," stated Paul Anderson, Omniplex Group Chief Executive. "Omniplex is pleased to add another OMNIPLEX MAXX after Junction One, Antrim which has received widespread praise from customers and industry observers alike."

The new cinema will be modern in every way, equipped with Dolby Digital sound systems, MasterImage 3D and Barco Digital projectors providing unparalleled eye-popping images in 2D and 3D. Patrons will enjoy the custom-built premium environment featuring elegant and luxurious seats with high-back headrests and giant immersive screens for the best picture you’ve ever seen!

The 8-screen, €5.5m cinema will be able to accommodate more than 1,200 moviegoers. Patrons will enjoy digital projection in every auditorium, stadium seating, with each row elevated for an unobstructed view, and high-back chairs featuring retractable cup-holder armrests to create a cosy double seat.
