Freddie Luke has been appointed as Chair of RICS Northern Ireland Construction Group.
Turner & Townsend Director Freddie Luke, has been elected Chair of the RICS Northern Ireland Construction Group.
The RICS Northern Ireland Construction Group plays a key role in RICS policy development activity including the provision of evidence to Northern Ireland Assembly Committees, engagement with stakeholders and responses to key Government strategies.
In June 2012, as part of a wider RICS UK consultation, the Construction Group hosted a roundtable meeting to identify future policy activity for RICS in Northern Ireland which can help deliver sustainable economic growth. Over the coming year the Construction Group will be looking at a number of issues including:
• best practice in procurement
• alternatives to lowest cost tendering
• watching brief on unlimited liability in Government contracts
• helping the Government deliver key strategies including the Programme for Government, Economic Strategy and Investment Strategy
Commenting on the new role, Freddie Luke, Director of Turner & Townsend said: "I am delighted to have been elected to the role of Chair of the Construction Group. In particular, I am looking forward to leading the Group in driving RICS policy development activities that will have a positive impact in achieving sustainable growth in the local construction industry.
"Over the coming year, we will be working closely with the Northern Ireland Assembly committees and other major stakeholders to develop policy that will be of long term benefit to the local construction industry and overall economy."
In September, Freddie Luke was also made a Fellow of the RICS in recognition of his significant contribution to the RICS and local industry.
