First Formal Meeting Of The Design Team Welcomed

Fine Gael TD for Roscommon/South Leitrim, Frank Feighan, has warmly welcomed the first formal meeting of the design team which is tasked with the planning and design work for the €3m Endoscopy Suite to be built at Roscommon Hospital.

"I had the great pleasure of meeting members of the Endoscopy Project design team, which held its very first meeting today at Roscommon Hospital. I am delighted that one of the key members of that team is Roscommon company, Varming Consulting M & E Engineers.


"Last week's appointment of the team and the formal commencement of the planning and design phase marks another significant milestone for the project. This phase of the development is a major component in the project and will involve a range of complex preparatory work including the preparation of planning and tender documents.

"Early next year a tender process to identify a suitable contractor to build the Endoscopy building will be undertaken to progress the project as quickly as possible to its completion stage. 30 daily procedures will be performed at this new facility once it is fully operational. This will represent a four fold increase in the current levels being carried.

"I am delighted to have secured the multi-million capital expenditure for this development, which I know will transform the hospital into a major diagnostic centre for Roscommon and the western region."
